Why I started LeyaNova
I started LeyaNova because, honestly, I know what it's like to feel really insecure about your body hair.
I used to be extremely hairy and it was something I was very conscious of. I was shaving every other day just to keep on top of it, and it was leaving me with rashes, irritation and constantly having to think about it.
Eventually I decided to try laser hair removal. I went to different clinics over the years and spent thousands of pounds, but I just wasn't getting the results I was hoping for. I tried two different clinics and, after a while, I basically gave up.
Then a friend of mine in Spain told me I should try a particular machine. I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting much because I'd already spent so much money and had been disappointed before, but I thought I'd give it a go.
I had around 12 sessions and the difference was huge. I wouldn't say I woke up one day completely hair free, but over time I got to a point where there was very little left and I only needed the odd top-up here and there.
For me, that was a massive change.
I remember how much better I felt not having to constantly worry about shaving or being conscious of my body hair. It made me think, if this could make that much difference to me, I'd love to be able to give someone else that same feeling.
I'd always worked in care, supporting elderly people and people with mental health needs, because I've always genuinely enjoyed helping people and never judging them.
So when I decided to start LeyaNova, I knew I wanted it to be more than just a place where people came in, had a treatment and left.
I wanted people to feel safe, comfortable and completely judgment free, because I know how vulnerable you can feel when you're already insecure about something.
I'm now going into my third year and one of the things I've loved most is the relationships I've built with my clients.
Getting to know people, watching their confidence grow and seeing them come back excited about their progress is honestly one of the best parts of the job.
I've been the person sitting in that treatment room hoping something would finally work.
That's probably why I care so much about getting it right for the people who come through my door.
